When I went inside, the Lego advertising didn't disappoint - there was an entire wall of Lego sets, with all the main themes (Star Wars, Ninjago, Friends, etc) and the selection was great. The pricing was incredible (maybe 10% upcharge at the most?), considering small shops like this often have to upcharge Legos like crazy to make money on them.
Dropped in with my grandchildren and was pleasantly surprised. The store is first very CLEAN which I particularly liked, second, it had lots of light which I also liked. The proprietor is friendly and passonionate about his store and the toys in it. He knows his stock. He spent time with my 10 yr old grandson discussing Legos. I've been back a few times and each time we get the same high level of service. This store definitely deserves the 5 stars.
I had the privilege of meeting the owner, Jimmy, while I was there and not only was he a real stand up guy (retired school employee of 30+ years, husband of a retired kindergarten teacher of 30+ years), but the man KNEW HIS STUFF when it came to toys. He talked not only about Lego, but about all the "not Lego" brand building blocks, about the ones that were quality and the ones that weren't, and about how it's so important to give kids toys like this to help with their development and imagination.
You can tell this family is proud of their store and if there was ever a local business that deserves our support, it's places like this!
A really cool feature The Toy Corner offers is a "puzzle library," where people can either sit in the air conditioned store and build a puzzle or you can check puzzles out to take home. You can even bring in one of your old puzzles to donate in exchange for a discount on your purchases.
In addition to Legos, there were all kinds of building toys, like Mega Blocks, Laser Pegs, and a new product called Plus Plus (which the owner recommended). The selection of these products was also pretty impressive, considering this shop is a little off the beaten path.
The Toy Corner was an unexpected surprise during our visit to Ocean City MD. We were driving along Route 54 and saw a sign for the place that said they sold Legos, which was an easy lure for an Adult Fan of Lego (AFOL) like myself!
